Chapel Rock is found along Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore between Munising and Grand Marais. The ancient evergreen growing on top of the nearly soil free rock formation has roots draping over empty air as it gets its nourishment from the "mainland". Explorers working their way along Lake Superior hundreds of years ago thought that the rock looked like a chapel.
