The Mackinac Bridge spans the five miles across the Straights of Mackinac. It connects the Upper and Lower Peninsulas of Michigan, and was first opened for business in 1957. It is currently the fifth longest suspension bridge in the world. Here it is photographed under the dancing Northern Lights.
